Re: Mario Running fixed in 07?
Yeah, running backs bump into their blockers, but the 2K games had realistic animations for this. Not just running in place behind an O-lineman and/or rotating while running in place after getting "stuck". NFL 2K2 is the first year they mo-capped Tyrone Wheatley doing "getting skinny" animations, and they kept adding more animations after that with each game.
Madden/NCAA's engine isn't really built for context-sensitive animations in the run game, while the 2K engine was revamped in 2001 to do so.
NCAA 2006's running game is a decent step up from the past games. It definitely edged out Madden this year on the control scheme, too.
If EA builds a new engine for the next-gen, then Mario running might finally be put to rest. If not, Madden will probably adopt the right stick mechanics of NCAA '06, and the NCAA team will keep building on what they did this year.
