Icon5 Length of Quarters

I am playing on the All-American difficulty level and wanted to know what is a realistic quarter length? I am looking for realistic stats but at the same time it is hard for me to play completely through a game at one sitting due to the absence of the in game saves and the accelerated clock that Madden has in its game. I am currently using 6 minute quarter lengths. Any suggestions?

Re: Length of Quarters

I have a pretty good system where I play 5, but don't run out the clock or anything during the first 3 quarters. My average score is around 27-25, and the yardage is pretty good.

Re: Length of Quarters

It really varies from player to player, depending on how much time you take to call a play, how much time you take at the line of scrimmage (making pre-snap reads, motioning and hot-routing, etc), and that sort of thing. The best way to go about it is play a couple of games and see how many plays end up being run. In real life, I believe around 130-140 plays are run during an average game (both teams combined). It depends on the teams playing of course; run heavy teams will stop the clock less often (few passes means fewer incomplete passes), and therefore will end up running few plays.

Most people get a realistic number of plays with 8-10 minute quarters.

I should note that more plays tend to be run in college games than in pro games.

Re: Length of Quarters

I play 7 minutes. I base my decision that I won't play any game if it takes over an hour. I can get a 7 minute quarter game in about an hour. No way I go more and I don't care if the stats aren't perfect.
