Yeah, coming from a Spurrier fan, I'm glad to see that my school, South Carolina, is getting some Spurrier playbook love. I was glad to see that a former UF QB was helping with with playbooks...great stuff. Can't wait!

I noticed something alongs these lines in the NCAA 07 (360 version) producer interview over at gametrailers.com. In that interview the EA guy (whose name eludes me) stated:

Quote:
If your playing with Florida, you'll actually see the spread offense. If your playing with Rice, you'll be able to run the option..."
As in the UNM example you cited, Rice has a new coaching staff this year. The Owls have scrapped the option entirely in favor of a spread offense. Do these two examples mean that any school that changed coaches and/or systems will be stuck with last year's playbooks?

no, I read an interview last night I found somewhere on MN and it said they were updating so playbooks were current, they even mentioned Rice specifically as being one of the ones that switched from the option to the spread and that ea's games would have them running the spread for example.

now I know you want to know where i read it...well I think, if not mistaken, I got the link from MN but the interview is one that is on EA Sports own website that was just put up last night. Either there or Gamespot one becuase those are the two places I read yesterday.

Excellent. I think I'll be putting in for a vacation day on July 18th, soon.

That's good news. I suspect the guy in the Gametrailer interview was just speaking off the cuff, and Rice was the first example of an option team that popped into his head.

I'm really looking forward to seeing these playbooks (especially the "little bit of everything" offense we run at UH).

yeah man, me too. as for first thing that pops into your head when you hear option, for me it'd be air force probably...but that's just me.

my two teams I use in NCAA will really benefit from the playbook overhaul. the buckeyes which more recently run a spread/shotgun offense have not had that reflected very well in the game because they still have all the old power type football plays in there more than the spread/shotgun option. and hawaii runs a real run and shoot offense that hasn't been quite accurate either, so I for one can't wait to see the new playbooks for my two teams.

I'm comin after you with my Canes on July 18th ODogg!! LOL! The Predator may have been a bunch of hype in real life but in the virtual world, he will be in Troy Smith's a$$!!

I know, probably should be in the "trash talk" forum but everything I have heard about the game so far has me hyped! LOL!

I think playing against June Jones and his run and shoot offense could cause quite a few headaches for some defenses.
