I've got a combo of '04 and '05 controls goin on mine.

One thing I know is great is the stiff arm button - I've mapped that to the left trigger instead of the default which is lateral.

Anyway, the stiff arm button also works as a switch ball to outside(or switch ball to other arm) which is very important in the running game, because you can't throw the stiff arm to someone unless you have the ball on the outside of the defender. I know this feature has been true in the past, I just wanted to bring it up because I don't think it's mentioned anywhere in the manual.
Its great EA allowed us to map any action to whatever button we wanted, except for one thing...you cant do it online! UNless your settings get saved and then it works..so im stuck using the default controler config. I would love to make stiff arm the left trigger, but I would hate to get used to it off line and then have to get used to Y online...unless im missing something, I dont see a way to do it for online.

So is the controller mapping only on the 360 or is it on the XBOX too?

This is one I did not know. Thanks for the find. So, is it like defensive playmaker on Madden? You just press up before the snap and the play the pass and down they all come in to play the run? Does it say anything on the screen to let you know?

It's implemented the same, but you hit up or down on the right stick right after the snap. The bottom right of the screen will say pass/run commit. I've learned that pass commit on third and long is a very strong strategy. You know for a fact they're passing and it really puts your defenders in a position to pick off passes. I use it all the time and it can shift momentum really quick.

Yes. You did understand that these instructions were for after the snap, right? And that to do the trigger/button method you have to push both at the same time?

You can't really call them manuals anymore. They are basically watered down Cliff Notes.
