Does the new player ratings make a dramatic difference?

While I was browsing through my roster, I noticed that there are a lot more individual ratings for my players compared to years' past. I don't ever recall seeing ratings such as elsusiveness, vision, trucking, spin, etc... Do these new ratings actually make a difference, or is it just for show and nothing more than fluff? Is speed and acceleration still the most important rating for all positions, or do these new dynamic ratings have more of an impact?
