Sacks And The Play Action Pass

Does anyone else think that sometimes you are asking for a sack when you call the PA pass? I guess there's a risk/reward thing going here because many times it will give me open recievers, but it also gives me more horizontal QB's.

yeah, I tend to stay away from PA plays...as you said, they tend to get me sacked lol. the whole fake handoff animation just seems to take too long most of the time

It's neccessary to setup the PA by establishing the run on certain downs. In some instances, it may take until the 2nd half before the CPU starts bringing the safeties up, or begins to bite on the PA.

Pound the rock, mix in some screens and the safeties will inch up.

Pick & choose my spots, but i do use it with some reservation & use it sparingly.
Been sacked enough to get it thru my head to be careful with it.
Jump The Snap will get ya everytime it seems in play action.

yeah exactly, my problem with PA plays isn't that the safeties and LBs don't bite on it...they do a good amount of the time. my problem is that by them biting on it, it seems they get in my backfield so fast before I have a chance to throw the ball

I use it the same way, you have to develop the run, otherwise they will blitz freely, if you use it in running situations i've noticed that it works well.

Re: Sacks And The Play Action Pass

I would say the majority of my passes are out of PA, probably 85% of them. I do run quite a bit though. Also, I hardly ever pass out of the shotgun, I usually go some sort of I formation and have either the FB or HB stay to block while the other go outs for a pass on PA. They work great for me, especially the crossing angle PA passes. But a computer team that runs PA all the time, I eat them up for supper with my OLBs.
