multiple undefeated teams at end of season

anyone had this? just curious if so and how it turned out...

in 2007 I had #4 West Virginia finish 13-0 after beating #6 Oklahoma, and #1 USC finish 13-0 after beating #2 Florida State (who then finished 13-1)

in the final polls USC was #1 in both, but WV got 29 of the 65 first-place votes in the media poll...

btw, if anyone reads Phil Steele's preview mag i'm all for his solution

Re: multiple undefeated teams at end of season

Up until the last week my Top 25 had 7 undeafeted teams.

1)Ohio St
2) Florida
3) Notre Dame (me)
4) Oklahoma
5) Miami
6) West Virginia

And Boise ST. was undeafeted yet much lower in the rankings.

I think it was a bit over done.

Re: multiple undefeated teams at end of season

I've had years with 3 major teams finishing undefeated(the regular season that is), that is always interesting. Have to play a suicide schedule every year just to make sure I don't get left out if I go undefeated. I actually scheduled light in my current year and it isn't looking good right now, undefeated but ranked 5th.

I've also seen seasons where there is only one undefeated team at the end of the regular season. And once that team was defeated in the NC game so the NC had 1 loss.

I think there is a good mix of season results, at least from what I have seen. Going undefeated isn't always a guaruntee lock for the NC game, but losing a game doesn't always mean you are out, I like the variety.

Re: multiple undefeated teams at end of season

I've had 5 major conference and two mid-major teams finish undefeated. The BCS featured 3 matchups of undefeated teams. It was pretty awesome.

Right now I have one loss in my third season, and I'm ranked #2. Ohio State and Louisville are the only undefeated teams left (week 11ish) and they are ranked 1 and 3. I don't think it's a whole lot different than it has been in years past.

Re: multiple undefeated teams at end of season

i one of my more recent seasons there were 8(!) teams undefeated (plus another 4 with 1 loss) before the conference championship games and i also had a season with 4 BCS undefeateds (and i believe 2 more non-BCS) after the bowl games. worked out ok for me as i was #1 both time

Re: multiple undefeated teams at end of season

I just finished a season with 4 undefeated teams(UW, tOSU, WV, Boise St.).

Ohio St. received something like 24 first place votes and WV got a couple. Boise St. just barely cracked the top 10 with their bowl win.

Seems like every year I get down to the final 2-3 weeks and there are 6-8 undefeated teams but they typically get knocked out in a rival game or conference championship game(happened to Texas and Tennessee in my season) I beat 13-0 Texas AM in the NC game.
