is there any way to switch from the new kick meter to the old one? i think the new one is way too easy...

Unfortunately no. If you find a way, let everyone in the world know. The new kick meter is brutal for both sides as the CPU never misses either. At least we struggle from the hashes while they are right down the pipe.
