My redzone scoring ability sucks.

I play with Washington State, and I am struggling, especially online, to score when inside the 20.

What are some plays you guys like to use?

Re: My redzone scoring ability sucks.

I really struggle in tight spaces with the spread type formations. I usually stick to base formations with a FB and TE and pray I can run it in. If I need to pass, slants or some play action passes out of the I (TE, FB) are good for me. Dump offs to my back to avoid getting sacked or throwing picks are usually safe and can work. I'm like you though, I often struggle in the red zone.

Re: My redzone scoring ability sucks.

I play with WSU, and their O-line is far from good, and their back is an 83. So when I try and run a big formation, and run for it, they have eight in the box, if not more, and stuff the play.

I usually try for quick passes, but I have struggled.

Yea i not the best red zone guy, but i have most success using a big formation and either running a toos play or the PA right Boot. the TE is usually open in that play.

Re: My redzone scoring ability sucks.

A few things I do:

1. I love running with my fullback. If you pick your spots you can usually surprise the defense.

2. Throw to my tight end, no matter how skilled or unskilled he is. Same thing here: pick your spots to surprise the defense.

3. Try to isolate a WR one on one by running a pass play out of a run formation, especially when you can get a route where it'll be just the WR and DB in a wide open part of the field.

Re: My redzone scoring ability sucks.

I throw to my TE's and RB's a lot in the redzone and throw tons of button hooks and slants to my WR's. I run alot of Trips sets to overload one side and isolate the TE or RB on the opposite side.

I'm usually in the Top 10 in red zone scoring in my dynasty.

Re: My redzone scoring ability sucks.

inside the twenty:
run your offense...deep passes should split safeties and be contained to 3 step drops...flood routes and dont be afraid to dump to you back and let him make a play(read short-to-medium-to-deep)...
inside the tenmy specialty)-try these combos...
1 and whatever- 1)fade route, especially if tall receiver on outside...one step and touch to back of end zone...(need to be able to pass though)
2)fast back? sweep to short side of field, but be patient and follow your blocks, dont just catch speed to the outside...
2 and whatever-plays that have te release and rb leaks work well...spread the field and run up the middle..****n arrow tandems(slants with te or other wr arrowing out)
3 and whatever-run your bread and butter...option team, then run the option...you pass, split the safety(outside fly, inside post or flag)
"man up o" aka goalline-(i usually run this combo within the 5, first and goal)
first down- run off tackle(weak or strong)weak really catches def off guard...
second down-iso or one of the play-action plays(no bootleg or dropback pass)
third down-sweep(weak or strong), qb sneak...*if you need to pass*use a two te or tight formation...the cbs should be playing the run...pick a pass play you are comfortable with, and audible your throwing side wr to a fly, slant, or out route...quick drop back(one or two steps) and hit that receiver...
hope that helps a little...there are so many combos you can run to set up the score...its not like the old days of running whatever to get in, you do have to work at it...
keep this in mind- set up your next play

Re: My redzone scoring ability sucks.

Plays I like to run inside the 20:

-Quick slants

-Power runs between the tackles

-Speed options

-Curl-flat combos

Inside the 10:

-Any screen can be lethal, WR screens to the outside and HB screens on 3rd down

Inside the 5:

-Counter runs, toss plays, iso runs
-Play Action out of run formations
-HB angle routes
