Change in Conference

Have you guys ever had a school get promoted into a new conference?

A buddy of mine play co-op dynasty, and in our 5th year, our San Diego State squad got promoted to the Pac-10, and Stanford got demoted to the Mountain West. Has this ever happened to anyone else? This was quite a suprise as we were planning on leaving, but we stayed since we're not in a power conerence.

Re: Change in Conference

Its happened to quite a few members on here. I don't usually start in a small conference so I haven't experienced it personally but it happens as long as you are great and some corresponding team in a bigger conference is horrible.

Re: Change in Conference

I got FAU from Sun Belt to C-USA after two 8-5 seasons... not too realistic, but I took it. Then went 13-1 in my first year of C-USA... but I lost most of my starters, and now I'm starting 8 freshman(QB, Wingback, WR, C, DT, DE, 2 OLB)... gonna be a long year.

Re: Change in Conference

Yea I started a dynasty with FIU. Spent two years in the Sun Belt before getting invited to C-USA. Spent 3 years in C-USA before getting an invite to the ACC to replace Duke. Surprisingly won the NC after 1 year in the ACC. To me gettting the conference invite is vital when you play with schools who are in non-BCS conferences. Honestly I think the bowl tie-ins for most of those conferences suck so for me, in order to keep it interesting I like the challenge of taking my Sun Belt dynasty team to a BCS conference to see how they stack up.

Re: Change in Conference

Can computer controlled teams change conferences? I've played a couple years of dynasty and never seen it happen.

Re: Change in Conference

Computer teams do not move up, only user controlled teams do. Even then its not a given. I wanted to change things up in my Dynasty so I took an idea I saw in this forum: create a new coach and take over the top lower division team (0 or 1 loss teams) before the final game of the year. Then play or sim the title game. Somtimes you can get this top lower division team bumped into a better conference.

So far I've gotten Rice into the B12, nixing Iowa State and Utah nixing Baylor. Got Navy in the Big East and Ohio, EMU into the Big 10. UCF replaced NC State in the ACC. Boise into the Pac 10 replacing Wash St. SMU, NTexas, SDSU and UTEP all all candidates for promotion.

i like it because it mixes things up, in this case strengthening the B12 North. It also keeps teams in lower conferences from dominating easily. Rice was getting good, now try it against UT and A+M. It keeps higher division teams honest by forcing them to play these good teams in conference.

Only problem is going back and changing the strategy back to make them accurate after you delete the coach you created for the process. Coaches will be recycled. I had taken over for Navy and after deleting that coach I noticed ther new coach at Navy was "Rice Coach" complete with the playbook and matching defense. When i saw that I was tempted to make the changes that were happening in the real silly season. Instead I just altered the playbooks.
