I don't think this was in 2007 but I could be wrong, I've only played the game one time and didn't see it so forgive me if EA already added this.

Anyway, I was thinking about this while editing players in College Hoops 2k7 last night. IMO, it's alot harder to put in hundreds of signature jump shots into a basketball game than a few throwing animations into a football game.

All EA ever had was the regular form and the "side arm" form that Curt Warner had a few years ago.

I think this would be a nice touch that would add something to the game and help keep it fresh. They could do the same thing as CH2k7, and have recruits with one of perhaps 25 throwing animations.

I think it's just time for new animations all around. How many times do we need to see a RB jump up and pump him arm after running for a 2 yard gain? Or the QB swing his arm in frustration...

Re: When are we going to see custom throwing animations for QB's?

I think 2K put in a couple animations in their football game. A drop down 3/4 throw versus a classic throw. They don't even have to be that custom or even have any effect on gameplay. Just put a few different animations in there to add variety.

You could add different animations that feature slow, normal and quick releases for QBs which would actually add a dimension to the gameplay. That would be cool.

If this did happen I think it would happen for Madden before it happened to NCAA. I know they do custom shooting animations on the basketball games for the 360 so custom throwing motions as well as running motions should be coming shortly for the football games on the next gen systems.

There's a huge difference between football and basketball games.

For a basketball game, all you really need is one basic model and then adjusting the priorities. Centers, fowards, and gaurds all pretty much do the same thing, just with different attributes.

In football you have to have a ton more interactions with coverage, blocking, and such.

You know how with baseball, they've had custom pitching and batting since the PS1? That's because there's a lot fewer things going on.

The actual act of putting in custom throwing animations in compared with custom shooting animations probably isn't that different. But with where basketball games are compared with where football games are, there's a lot more stuff to work on in football.
