Angry Defensive Help

i love the sooners but my friend always plays with them so i cant get them. i need help with a team that has a good defense and a decent offense. he runs dives and counters with peterson all day and an occasional option and my d is set for the inside run and he gets me outside. if he doesnt run he goes ace 2 te and runs them down the seam and has the wrs run posts corners. i need a defense to run to stop all of this out of this formation. someone has to know how to stop this cheeser. thanks

Re: Defensive Help

Teams like Penn State and Florida State both have very quick linebackers and I believe the majority of them are rated 90+(all 3 PSU LB's are 90+ and Davis and Timmons on FSU are 90+ I believe). They should be quick enough to contain Peterson. I believe PSU would be better on the offensive side of the ball though because you could pound the inside of his defense with Tony Hunt.

Re: Defensive Help

It doesn't matter what team you use, but I have learned that using the Middle Linebacker on 99% of your plays is the key to great defense.

It helps maintain that balance, especially when you are playing against a hard opponent or on a hard difficulty and your secondary behaves like ******** children.

Here are my tips when you have control of your MLB...

Don't Blitz ... unless your opponent is in a goalline situation. Then you want to use crash middle, but then take control of your deepest player and chill back in case your opponent attempts for the outsides.

Spy A lot ... keep that scrambling QB in check. When your opponent starts tapping into his running game, you can let your CPU do the work that your linemen need to do. Thats how you play it safe. If that RB has no problem getting past those linemen, you are in place for a nice surprise hit. Lots of Tackles for Losses (Stuffs).

Keep an eye on the TE ... try to defend the TE on pass plays. You will be happy with the number of USER interceptions you will accumulate after a few games.

Other Tips for defense (especially against another USER)

This works like a charm:

Pick a play in which your Left Corner back blitzes.

at the line of scrimmage, shift your linemen AND linebackers to the Right.

take control of your OLB on the Right, and blitz to the outside.

By doing the last 2 steps, your opponent is pretty sure that you are attacking him from the right, so naturally he sprints left to avoid that pass rush...

what he doesn't know is the play you called in Step 1... BAM... blindside hit by the Left Cornerback...

IT WORKS!!! (even on the running game... but better on the passing game)

the QB Sneak is nearly impossible to stop... but nearly is the keyword... the best bet you have is that Crash Middle play in the goalline formation. You also have to make sure you Jump the Snap... that Y button is your friend... MUCH MORE often than not you benefit from it. A few times your opponent (if he's smart) can get you to tap that Y button too soon... but more often than not like I said... you will jump the snap correctly.
