For those that have played the game........

Did you see or was there any mention of running backs pushing the line? I know they said this would be in Madden and I know they share the same engine so did anyone see this or hear anyone talking about this? I'd really like to see bigger backs pushing the line and smaller backs sliding off blockers.

Yes....it is in the game but not quite as dramatic as you might think...in past games a RB would hit the blockers and stop dead in his tracks and start "Mario Running" right there until he was tackled. In 2008, either the blocker gets pushed forward a bit and the RB is free to move again or the RB slides off the blocekr to one side or another and the player again has control.

If people are looking for the animation from 2K5 where you would see the RB push off a blocker, prepare to be disappointed, but if you are looking to simply have better control of the RB and have more player-controlled outcomes instead of animation-dictated ones...then you will be very happy. What also appears to be the rule rather than the exception (at least in videos so far) is that the NCAA versions of the 'new features' seem more subdued than the same features in Madden - (kind of hard to be sure since I have played NCAA 2008 but not Madden 2008).

Re: For those that have played the game........

Thanx for responding. Glad the toned down the mario running. Do players on defense react the same way, or is the mario running on defense still there as well?

It is there on defense more than offense unfortunately...I personally did not notice it nearly as much as in years past, but a few other guys did see more than one or two cases of it happening. I really think that as we get out hands on the game and get deeper into it that we will find more cases of Mario Running in the game but it will also be minimized a lot by the addition of branching animations...

Its a far cry from perfect, but it is a whole lot better than last year on 360 (and supposedly the PS3 version will be virtually identical)...I don't even look at PS2/XB1 stuff so I can't say anything at all about that game...

Well, the mario running on D that I saw was more or less just guys straight up running into each othere. It only happened a couple times when I was calling plays with guys going across the middle of the field. So, it's not that bad.

Re: For those that have played the game........

Thanx guys for chiming in. I asked this because I was playing 07 yesterday and the computer ran towards the outside and all the LBs ran into the lineman and ran in place while the running back sprinted to the end zone, lol. I was winning so it didnt bother me but I just found it funny everyone chasing the running back was just running in place. Sounds like it wont be THAT much of a problem this year.
