I'm thinking about picking up 2005 at GS for 1.99. Never played it on XBox. For those who have, how was it? Positives? Negatives? Thanks in advance

I'd steer clear of it. IMO, it was BY FAR the worst installment of the series... and I think others would agree.

Animations and graphics were a step up from 04, but the gameply just reaked. Passing game was nearly impossible as recievers dropped the ball almost constantly. That is, if the ball got to them because the DB's and LB's had super-human reaction times and such.

Well, I liked it. If you like I can dig it up tonight and give you a set of sliders I used. I had awesome games with that version once I got the dropped ball issue solved.

Its the worst in the series. Grab 04 or 06 instead. Actually 07 is better than either of those. 08 would be perfect on the ps2 except they busted the pursuit angles so I give the nod to 07. 05 focused on create a fan and it was stupid, the overall gameplay took a step back from 04.

05 isn't bad but I prefer 06 out of all the versions for Madden and NCAA.

I never played 05 or 06. Wasn't '06 the one where the long ball was pretty much money?

'07 had alot of great things going for it, but had some major issues:
1. Momentum. Way over done. Tulsa turned into USC after getting a 1st quarter FG. Most games turned into routs early.
2. JTS. Mega Pancakes on both sides of the ball. Many running plays are either a HUGE hole, or 3 guys tackle you in the backfield before you get the ball.
3. No missed FG's.
4. Kick returns went to a semi-1st person view.
