EA Sports: NCAA Football 2009 Team Ratings

at EA NCAA website, they post a excel spreadsheet that has all the teams ratings.

http://www.easports.com/ncaa09/news....D=team_ratings

Ohio State and Georgia still 99's

don't think many(if any) teams ratings are different than the OS pictures.

Thanks, I'll be doing my Dynasty with either Tulsa (74) or UTEP (72)...Can't really decide, probably Tulsa because a guy from my HS is transferring there from UT.

Re: EA Sports: NCAA 2009 Team Ratings

I disagree with a number of the team ratings but overall it's probably fine. It would actually be hard to do the overall poorly. They'd basically have to make ratings random to tick everyone off.

That said, I disagree with how they get their ratings. For instance, New Mexico is ranked low - like in the bottom 20. They're probably better than that - maybe in the 60s or 70s. But they'll take someone like Deandre Wright - he is a very good corner. Most 2009 mock drafts project him as a 2nd - 3rd round pick. But his rating is an 84.

For years, EA's ratings of players is more reflective of their opinion of the team's talent, than a reflection of the player's talent.

College Football News is not the best assessment of talent but they're good enough. They rated New Mexico's secondary as an 8. Florida's is a 7. Florida's is talented (lots of 4-star talent) but unproven and untested. What are the odds that EA's (more accurately Tiburon's) ratings reflect that? There is no way. Tiburon makes Florida's secondary incredible to make their defense incredible to make the team incredible.

And don't get me started on speed. NCAA ratings equate speed with overall rating. Very good players on bad teams inevitably are average to slow for their position. And solid players on very good teams are inevitably fast to very fast for their position.

Re: EA Sports: NCAA 2009 Team Ratings

I don't like how they ranked the teams. It seems they just grouped teams on "tiers" so to speak. For instance you have the upper echelon teams OSU and Georgia. Oklahoma is the only team that has a rating that another team does not have. From there you have 4 teams rated 94, and then 2 at 91, none at 93 or 92. The rest plays out as such.

no teams at 90
89- 5 teams, none at 88,87
86- 3 teams, none at 85
84- 9 teams, none at 83,82
81- 10 teams, none at 80
79- 15 teams, none at 78
77- 15 teams, none at 76, 75
74- 11 teams, none at 73
72- 15 teams, none at 71, 70
69- 9 teams, none at 68
67- 10 teams, none at 66, 65
64- 2 teams, none at 63
62- 3 teams, none at 61
60- 4 teams

I know rating teams is difficult especially only seeing spring highlights, but this just seems a little lazy. I would of liked to see more diversity in the team ratings. Hopefully we'll get better roster updates out of EA this year.

99s are killing me. no1 should be all 99s unless all players are 99s. Especially a team in the big ten.

Re: EA Sports: NCAA 2009 Team Ratings

Florida State's ranking is just absurd. Seems like those ratings are not all averaged properly either. Is special teams a consideration? This is totally my opinion:

Team Over. Off. Def.
Georgia 97 99 95
Ohio State 96 94 98
Southern Cal 95 91 99
Oklahoma 94 96 92
Missouri 93 96 90
Florida 92 96 88
