You are correct. There was also immense backlash and arguing within the forums. Most of it was buyer's remorse from some individuals because they "bought into the hype," which, as you said, is happening again this year.

For the record, this year does look to be much more improved than last year. Either way, if you're on the fence, try before you buy. No sense in basing your purchasing decisions off of "the hype" and then coming on the boards with angry typing skills looking for retribution.

Remember every single community leader said the same thing about 08 as well.

Also, the newest version of the game should always be the best one in the series. That is not always the case but it should be...

I would never bash community members and testers for flaws they didnt recognize in time. Thats EAs job to find those things, not yours. They give you limited time to find these things during the community days, and covering everything that needs to be covered can be a daunting task.

Regardless of hype and overall gameplay I will buy the game, as its been my favorite to date. Having the insight you all give us before release is just a plus for me, but I would never look for retribution because of some disappointment...you guys do enough hard work as it is, theres no way you deserve what gets flung at you after EA misses something that big.

That's not completely true. They all said '08 was a big improvement over '07 (which wasn't hard to do according to most people) but they weren't singing the praises of the game like they are this year.

Ultimately, all that matters is what the individual thinks when they buy the game. Until July 15th, we can only speculate.

I don't think anyone is bashing for not finding certain things... it's just chaos shortly after the game is released. The honeymoon is usually a few days and then the bickering starts... it's typical for most game releases.

I just think for the same number of threads where there are "EA is the devil" as the subject there are "EA is the father of my baby." The good, the bad; Ying and yang. Don't be fooled into anything and have buyer's remorse without doing the proper research, even it means you trying the game first. I'm sure there will be a good amount of videos within the first week that will allow you to make a better purchasing decision than hearsay, even if it is from a few select individuals.

Which I completely agree with. If youve had bad luck in the past in being disappointed with the game, rent it before purchase. Dont take out your remorse on the testers for your lack of research. And theres always next year. This advice should be words to live by for any skeptic of the EA football series...

while i want to agree with you and be optimistic I simply can't when I look back at my 10 year history with this game. i too think that we will all feel this FUN factor in days 1 and maybe 2 but after that I fully expect to find nothing but frustration IF I chose to mess with sliders and make the game reflect real life football. If one is able to over look 90% completion percentages (community day guys getting 85% with 2 hour stick time) then I think this game might be really awesome for beating the computer by 60+ and getting your whole offensive team nominated for the heisman race. If however you hope to play a game where stats reflect something and there is a trace of a chance of losing to the CPU after your 2nd week playing this game... then I am VERY afraid that baring a patch this game will be a TOTAL letdown as far as HUM vs. CPU. And from everything I am hearing from community guys, a patch probably is not coming at all and if it does, will be VERY late in the game at which point I will have lost interest and might as well jump on the 2010 hype machine.

As for HUM vs. HUM, while tons I am sure will like it and enjoy it immensely, I already figure that I will not on account of instead of trying to match wits and be a O and D coordinator, I will be stuck trying to figure out how in the hell to deal with the flaws in the game and stop the impossible to stop offense which will greatly minimize what Defenses I can call and who I can use on D. Just my 2 cents. If I sound negative well it is because I have been around this block now far too many times and the battle cry "just wait for next year" is getting old to me.

I dunno dude, it is easy to get caught up on the hype train especially if you're at an EA sponsored event playing the game for a limited time. The turnover issues weren't exactly obvious last year until one had played the game for some time.

Seems lame to say it, but I won't believe a thing until I've actually played it myself. It just too hard to trust sources these days. They'll say everything is fine and you buy it and realize there are framerate issues, or turnover issues. Not everyone has the same standards.
