Re: question on recruiting

I thought it was fair or just right as far as getting the right recruits but took too long

Re: question on recruiting

Still too easy, IMO.

But I liked the format.

Re: question on recruiting

Definitely still on the easy side, but pretty fun I thought.

Re: question on recruiting

I think it will be much more interesting this year because of online dynasties.

There are usually a handful of good players at each star rating (meaning players that are prototypical).

I think those players will be highly contested.

Especially if people in the dynasty are competitive.

Re: question on recruiting

Well like others have said, it wasn't too much different from previous versions in terms of your ability to have consistent success in your recruiting classes. Once I built South Carolina into a perennial SEC power, I didn't have much trouble consistently putting together top 5 recruiting classes. That being said, I can't say is was quite as easy as previous versions. I did have find myself losing more prospect battles to other schools, having more trouble remaining the school to beat on a prospect's list of offers, and getting more sub-Top 10 recruiting classes than I was used to.

My only real gripe with it was the individual phone calls you had to make every week did get a bit tedious, especially when you've got a lot of scholarships to give and your recruiting board is loaded. That seems to have been alleviated in '09 as I believe you can simply set how much time you want to spend recruiting a prospect on a given week and the CPU does the rest. Seems to be a step back towards the previous system while maintaining new depth (which I prefer, BTW).

This year should be especially interesting online, though. I get a bit giddy thinking of the prospects I offer to and see names of schools coached by other humans on his list as well. Haha, let the battles begin!
