I think it has been pretty much confirmed that the roster is corrupt, so that may be your problem.

I just tried skipping the whole pre-season and still got the freeze.

FYI, for all those worriers out there, I'm in week 4 of my online dynasty, I've skipped nothing, I have pasta's rosters, and I am having zero issues.

Seriously there are about 10 different threads around here on roster editing issues and the EA guy said pasta's roster is broken and CDJ is corrupt. I'm just stating what they said.
