Play one game without ever manually switching guys on defense and watch what happens.

Also, do not select the return man on punts or kickoffs, instead play as one of the upmen and wait for the game to switch guys for you.

That's all I'm going to say. Those who try - and stick with it for an entire game or series of games - will see the light. Those who don't, won't. Simple as that.
