How and When to use Slide Protection

I saw the feature in the demo and now in the game but have no clue how and when to use it.

Any help?

Before you snap or hike the ball, press LT (360) and a list of options should pop up like aggresive, slide left, slide right, and pinch I think. And I'm guessing you can use it if you're running a toss a certain way or maybe a PA Rollout or something like that. That's all I know. .

It's also good for countering defensive "overloads" (when the defense comes heavy on one side or another) and blitz pick-ups.

Re: How and When to use Slide Protection

I guess I should have asked WHEN to use it...I know how. I'm just unclear as to when I should slide left or right, pinch, or use agressive. Also, does it work for run and pass plays (I'm thinking not for runs due to pulling guards and such).

Re: How and When to use Slide Protection

Bascially..........when you see the strong safety or a LB come up to the line in one of the middle gaps, use slide protection IN. That would cause your line to bunch up in the middle. The reason for this is to protect you from blitzes up the middle.

When you see the SS or LB walk up to the outside edge of a DE, slide protection to that side they are standing on.

When you see both OLB's or 1 OLB and a SS at both ends of the line, slide protection out. That will cause your tackles to slide outwards to protect you from an outside pass rush. When they are rushing outside, you step up in the pocket. Don't roll left or right, you will end up sacked when the defense is rushing outside.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO SLIDE PROTECT WHEN YOU ARE ABOUT TO DO A RUNNING PLAY.
