FINALLY found success (and FUN!) playing defense

I've been playing this game a lot since it came out and while I was really getting into the recruiting and whatnot in Dynasty Mode, actually playing the games were a bit of a drag trying to stop the "Robo QB."

So I thought I'd let you guys know that I was finally able to put together a few stops consistently against the CPU in my last few games. This is without sliders adjustments (I'd rather not mess with those since they don't seem to be working as designed anyway) on All-American difficulty.

All I did was change my user-controlled position from Safety to Corner.

Using the tips from that earlier article about playing as corner, I have been having great success! I don't know what it is, but its seems like when I cover well, my teammates cover better as well. This has lead to a few more interceptions but more importantly (to me anyway), more coverage sacks and incompletions. I no longer feel helpless on D.

In my last dynasty game, I (playing as Kansas State) held Oklahoma's Sam Bradford to a completion percentage of 55% and 4 picks; much better than I was doing previously. Not to mention playing Corner just feels like its way more fun than Safety lol.

Anyway, try it, let me know how it works out for you and if you are any more successful in putting together solid defensive stops.

How can you see what route is being run. The Wr adn Cb are usually right off screen, right?

Exactly what I was wondering.

And come on... Kansas State?

Play cover 0. You get to stop the short passes over the middle. And you see the CPU long ball regularly.

about as good a suggestion as any I suppose would love to see how that works against a human opponent

I exclusively play corner as well. A big tip is pre-snap to hit A for hot-route and then B to cancel. This keeps the camera zoomed out pre snap and, to me at least, makes it easier to play. I love baiting the QB and going for the pick. Of course Ive been playing nothing but corner for years now and im pretty used to it.

I've been camping out over the middle as a safety, and it works sometimes. I see more interceptions than incompletions, which really is just as annoying if not more annoying than 15 completions in a row.
