Why can't redshirts practice?

I was in practice mode last night, and tried to sub in a running back that I had just redshirted. It said he would lose his RS status if I practiced him, so obviously I didn't do it. But come on, we talkin' bout practice... not a game... practice. Redshirts should be allowed to practice, just not play.

I play PS2 but I have heard two things about this subject:

1.) Even though it does say that he'll lose his redshirt he really doesnt once you back out of practice and go back to the main dynasty menu.

2.) Even if he did lose his redshirt, why not just practice and not save your progress afterward?

Save the game first, then try it and see. I wanted to try out my RS QB and RS HB and I got the same message in practice mode that you did. I exited out and saved it so I could try it anyway. I went back into practice and played with my RSes and then left practice. I looked at my roster and they were both still redshirted so I don't think it actually removes their redshirt status. Just to be on the safe side though (being the paranoid guy I am) I loaded my save anyway, just to be sure.

Online / offline, doesn't matter.........just another glitch....errrr ..I mean "feature" in a loooooooooooooong line of "features".

The message happens because the Developers took a shortcut and reused code for a regular game when they first put in the Practice Mode. Ultimately its irrelevant because the only way to lose the redshirt is to record stats and the stats from practice don't count.

Really? So the message is bunk? Alright, I'm gonna give it a shot tonight.
