You think bumping up the truck and break tackles(?) rating for the power backs, this would help?

The ratings don't matter. The problem isn't raising/lowering ratings, but instead actually programming gameplay logic to match all of the rating categories.

The difference in ratings has more impact in the sim engine than the actual gameplay engine. EA has like 25 ratings, but the game still plays like a beefed up 3D version of Tecmo Bowl at the end of the day since speed is all that matters. Even Tecmo Bowl had more respect for strength and power when you go back and play it (see defenders bounce off you like rubberbands).

The next thing that needs to be done is to re-program pursuit AI for all LB/S/DB. It makes no sense for safeties and DB's to be chasing ballcarriers behind the line of scrimmage in between the tackles. If defenders actually held the counter side, didn't just pursue the ballcarrier at all costs, and played their containment areas then speed would be far harder to abuse in the running game.

No. Unless you mean having EA make those stats actually do something.

Running with power backs, I see them break no more tackles or run over no more tacklers using the truck stick than any other back in the game.

Power backs are truly near useless in the game.

High Trucking, Break Tackle and strength really do not seem to translate into game play - at all.

Honestly, I think the whole attribute system needs to be reworked or scaled better. It's not uncommon to see several Speed HB's have high Power HB values (Trucking, Strength, Stiff Arm, etc.) and vice versa each recruiting season. I can understand how a few recruits (B- and up Overall Rating) can have these skills merged, but those should be saved for the occasional "freak" 5* HB recruit or a 4* or 3* "diamond in the rough" type. In '09, it seems they are a dime a dozen. I've found numerous 5*, 4*, and 3* HB's with Speed and Power abilities every year.
