Fix CPU roster management......7 years later

Every damn year, the computer is completely incapable of fixing a depth chart roster.

I'm in year three of my franchise. I check Miami's roster just to see how a prospect that I just missed on from the previous season ended up being rating. I find an absolute mess.

1. From the previous year, Robert Marve(93) went pro and Jacory Harris transfered(90) at the same time. This left an 81 RS freshman as the starter.

2. They have two tight ends. A 59 and a 54. They have 7 WR above 81. No school doesn't recruit TE and then fail to convert a WR to a TE.

3. One left tackle. A 54. They have 95, 94, 92, 86 and 85 guards. Right tackle they have 91 and 90.

They are starting the 54, sitting the 92, 96, 95 guards and sitting the 90 tackle.

Horrible AI loop hole.

4. 95 and 91 LOLB, 82 ROLB. The 91 is sitting.

Why are there still horrible AI decisions like this in a 2009 game. You can't write a single script that will check if switching positions would produce a 40 overall upgrade?

I hear ya and I agree. However here is why this exists.

1 - would it be hard for them to fix? answer: no
2 - would this fix sell enough MORE copies to justify the small amount of time to do it? answer: NO

Simple fix would be to get rid of the RIGHT/LEFT crap in favor of just the position of GUARD/TACKLE/OLD/DE and run them the same way as they do CBs. No idea why they have it the way they do and don't check this. Simply turn all those positions into a single position and use the current CB position logic and it would be a 100% better. However, even if they can fix this in under 1 hour of time, they won't sell enough to care.....

If they fix this and the cpu playcalling I could live with this game for a couple of years. I'm not going to hold my breath though. I bought a used copy of this game this year, and I doubt I'll even bother with that unless they concentrate on some of these issues that are necessary to sim gamers.

I'd probably even go to the trouble to fix the cpu's depth chart myself if they would let us, being they can't come up with code to deal with this.

When you recruit Tackles, Guards, OLb's, does it even tell you what you are recruiting right or left?

I don't think so... you have to decide when you get to POSITION CHANGES I think. It seems to arbitrarily make them a L or R. I don't see why EA would include the L and R and then NOT include the added logic step to make sure the dynasty works alright with this.... LOL, who am I kidding, this is no surprise at all since the didn't even bother to check that the sliders controlled anything!

I agree completely; usually by year 3-4 of the dynasty there's 1 LT and 4 RT, and the same with DEs. The best remedy is to just make it a generic OT, OG, DE, S and the player's ratings will show which position (FS or SS, LE or RE) the player is best suited for

Well i know on my rosters at the beginning of the year it always starts the best available player, even if its not their position.

Like if I have a 68 OVR FB and a 61 OVR FB it will start a 3rd string 80 OVR HB that turns out to be a 72 FB.

So does it not do the same thing for the CPU?

I know it does it with every position on my user controlled team.

I cant remember the exact year in my dynasty but I was checking LSU's roster and they 11 QB's 13 wr's and 0 tight ends. Crazy
