Pick6 from outs/flats - cannot see the field!

I seem to throw a lot of Pick6 on out routes and flat patterns.

I know that I need to get better about this.

But the camera view does not let me see outside of the hashmarks.

How am I supposed to know if my guy in the flats is open?

It is usually too late after I have thrown it.

And the CPU DB always dusts my linemen and QB toward the endzone.

Is there no way to improve the amount of the field that I can see?!?

Thanks!

What I usually do is just look straight to the flats right away, and see if I can see the corner come into the screen. If I don't see him, I know he is still squatting in the flats, and I get off that read right away. That usually works for me, but it's not foolproof.

That doesn't make a difference. I have a 47" and it still has the same view.

The flats are the last place I throw to. You need to watch the safties. From there you will be able to read man, cover 2 zone, and cover 3 zone. If cover two zone, the flat won't be open. Depending on the cover 3 zone, they may or may not be open. With cover three it depends on the type of cover three being called.

I don't throw to the RB in the flats because it seems to me like that is what most people try to do. In my opinion the people that try to throw to the RB in the flats aren't very good.

The most deadly pass on the game is a flat and hitch combination with a slot and the flanker or SE with a RB running an angle route. I make a living on this route combination. I don't run it every play, but when I need a crucial first down and I am using that combo.

You won't be able to tell if it's Cover 2 Man from looking at the safeties.

You know it is a form of cover 2, however. It is then a matter of looking at the rest of the defenders. Not very difficult. If you are play human vs. human games, usually the first play of the game is going to dictate perty much what they run the rest of the game.

Not really. You can play Cover 3 and Cover 4 with two safeties high.

Re: Pick6 from outs/flats - cannot see the field!

put someone in motion. if you cant then send the WR on that side on a deep route. after you snap... roll out that way a little and peek if the CB followed your WR deep. problem solved. That used to happen to me a lot during the first week I played though.

edit: also on out routes...that is a quick check if you recognize man you got him. if an out route is covered by any sort of zone you need to go somewhere else with the ball. remember its okay to take sacks and throw the ball away sometimes.

also if you need an outlet pass against zone...try calling a drag on the WR who is on the side farthest away from action. sometimes during zone all the defenders will back up beyond his route and you can dump it off to him as a safety valve.
