Tackling

Any advice on tackling? How do I do it?

Should I use a button for "tackle"?

Should I let the CPU-controlled players tackle for me?

Should I "sprint" into the player I am trying to tackle?

I watch the replays - my guys get close and then "whiff" when I take control.

How can I use strafe?

I am especially miserable at getting tackles on punt returns.

Missed tackles (or "non-tackles") are problems for me.

Re: Tackling

just make sure that you take good angles towards the ball carrier and use the tackle button most of the time, instead the hit stick. If you're using the 360, I believe the Left Trigger is strafe, don't let the CPU tackle for you though, they're horrible.

Re: Tackling

Line up and take angles. I usually use the strafe button (R2 PS3) to make sure I've got a good direct hit on somebody, thats when it's perfect for hit stick. Also, this helped me, I used to get to eager to make a very good tackle and I would miss completely. So just try to remain calm and just get the tackle over with.

lol ive had plenty of wiffs in my day. ive definitely gotten better recently, i control the FS now when on defense and it helps a ton. Cause i usually dont have to switch players to make a tackle. To me it helps controlling the same player for most of the entire play.

Re: Tackling

yeah - about that - what is the opinion on controlling only one player throughout the play?

i usually control a DL because i do not trust myself to manually cover a receiver.

but then i find myself constantly "changing guys" as the play is run away from my side or the pass is completed downfield or whatever.

and this "changing players" seems to have a blip in player speed.

stick with only one guy? can the other 10 guys make the play?
