Re: The 4-2-5: The magic defense

I have a -really- stupid question for people here:

In my online dynasty with Baylor I go to the coach settings and I have the offense set to spread (default) and the defense set to the 4-2-5.

Now when I go to play a game, it says I'm using the Baylor playbook with the 4-3 defense. What does this mean? Am I running the 4-3 defense out of like a 4-2-5 set? Or am I just using 4-3?

I don't really want to have to change it from 4-3 to 4-2-5 after every game.

Stupid question, but it's kind of confusing me for whatever reason.

you'll have to change it each time you go to the game screen.

Heh, that's kind of annoying. Sucks that changing it in the main screen doesn't have any effect on the actual team selection screen.

Changing it every game is a slightly annoying. What's dumb is that you can't go into practice mode against anything but a 4-3.

Back on point, if you have a ton of good linebackers, I'd suggest the 3-3-5. Using the right stick you can sub out your DEs for LB's and it's great for both user games and against CPU. If you have trouble stopping the run, go to the 3-3-5 BEAR. There are some sweet defensive plays in there.

lol I guess I'm the only one that loves the 4-3....I usually always slow down the CPU passing game with it...I'll give the 4-2-5 a try, but I'm probably not going to switch.

Re: The 4-2-5: The magic defense

i love the 4-2-5. used to use it in '09, but I couldn't get it to work against human opponents at all. So I'm using the 3-4 now.

Re: The 4-2-5: The magic defense

The 3-4 is very effective with the right personnel in the right positions (might have to adjust a couple players)

The 3-3-5 is great too, I can really wear down an offense with it. I've been told that it "shows what the defense is gonna do" but I've found it's actually quite deceptive against human opponents (the cpu is no match anyway lol)

As for the 4-2-5, it's nice. Has a lot of good plays but I'm just not big fan of 4 down linemen in 09, I'll take the extra LB anyday, they're much more likely to be "playmakers", atleast in this game.

I use nothing but the 4-3. Dime and Nickel sometimes I guess, but 4-3 is used 95% of the time.
