This is what I was thinking. My thought was that awareness wasn't such a big deal on offense but it might come into play on defense, especially in the secondary. I would think the OL would need to be aware to pick up blitzes as well.

youAlreadyKnow, I noticed you mentioned MCV and ZCV ratings in another post. Does anybody else think those attributes actually do what they are supposed to?

Undecided on if they work as they are supposed to, but I've seen CB's with great MCV/ZCV who shutdown opppsing WR's (Ohio St CB Malcolm Jenkins for example).

I'm more concerned with Awareness and Play Recognition.

Re: How Much Does Awareness Matter?

Whatever the effect in the game is - they need to increase it.

Players on defense are borderline mentally handicapped. They should really allow for people that like to play defense to really shine ... and I'm not talking about taking the FS and cheesing the entire field. I'm talking about good playcalling, disguising blitzes, etc, etc.

They should make playing defense fun for people that enjoy it (and teams that are good at it).
