How Much Does Awareness Matter?

Ok, so we all know speed is the most significant attribute in this game for the skill positions. My question is, how does awareness play out in this game for each position group. For instance, how does it play out for say wide receivers, offensive line, defensive line, linebackers and secondary? I’m always struggling whether to recruit a 94 rated speed cornerback with a C awareness rating vs a 90 rated cornerback with a A+ awareness rating.

Thoughts?

I agree. Speed trumps all in this game.

Isn't play recognition more of a factor that awareness this year?

Re: How Much Does Awareness Matter?

So what does awareness do for each of the position groups?

Re: How Much Does Awareness Matter?

i had a CB with 70 awareness and 95 speed... he allowed so many touchdowns... he looked lost out there... also... on the other side of him... CB with 94 awareness and 89 speed... he was a lockdown CB... he only allowed about 3 touchdown... he was always around the WR... like a fat kid with cake. awareness makes more of a difference than you guys think. o yea... eventually i switched which sides my cb's were on cuz i had a FS with 93 awareness ... so he would make up the slack.

Awareness is critical on defense, especially for CB/S/LB. Also the player's class matters just as much as awareness sometimes. Freshmen will make mistakes more often than seniors.

Re: How Much Does Awareness Matter?

imo speed makes up for what they lack in awr.

if that slow corner allows a catch, that wr may take it all the way, while the fast guy can at least slow him down for others to tackle him.

and the faster lbs can get to the outside quicker, and you defiantly dont want a slower LB in coverage.

id aim for speed, its really the defining attribute in this game.

If you're playing against users, then speed is the defining attribute.

Against a CPU opponent that rarely stretches the field, speed becomes redundant when you have it everywhere on the field.

I usually like having JR/SR's with high AWR/PRC/MCV/ZCV at my #1/2 CB slots and hard-hitting CB's with high TKL/BLS/MCV as my #3/4 CB's who cover the slot WR's and TE's.

All of this is really a moot point anyways though if you aren't playing with any speed house rules or absurdly difficult sliders that have HUM RBA below 20. With 97+ SPD players on your team, this game is child's play. I still don't see how people can enjoy playing this game with 97+ SPD players everywhere when you can score at will just by getting the ball in your receiver's hands. I could run 2-3 plays the entire game and probably would score every 3-4 plays on offense.
