JayD - Yes, any team, including a non-BCS team, can play in the BCS championship if they are ranked in the top-2 in the BCS rankings. The problem, of course, is that very few non-BCS teams will ever get to the top-2, because very few will ever have the strength of schedule or quality wins to do it.

Technically, yes. Realistically, not unless all the chips fall their way.

It's possible. It's the same thing as any other BCS bowl game. Like Utah got a bid to the Sugar Bowl this year....It's definitely possible, but they would have to have a really good schedule and some quality wins....and that is unlikely considering that they're in a non-BCS conference.

I somehow doubt that since I see no computer polls and little weight given to strength of schedule.

The entire system is broken in this game from the polls to the BCS formula.

Re: Fixed BCS Rankings in 2010

This thread has been completely hi-jacked. This isn't a discussion of the BCS in real life. It was supposed to be a discussion of the NCAA franchise's inability to accurately reflect the real life BCS in the game. We're not here to argue whether or not a non-BCS team deserves a shot a title. The fact is that no non-BCS team has ever been invited to the BCS Championship, being passed over for one-loss and even two-loss teams who played tougher schedules. The game's BCS formula should look like that as well. I agree with the original poster. Strength of Schedule ought to be factored in the game. Here's a quick example from our online dynasty:

Alabama went undefeated. It just so happens that there were three undefeated teams. Of the three, Bama had, by far, played the most ranked teams (6), while the other two teams had played six ranked teams combined. Yet Bama was left out. That would NEVER happen in real life. In real life Bama would have been the first team in because the media would have been all over them.

The current BCS formula, in the game, ought to allow and even be slanted toward one-loss power conference teams getting into the championship game ahead of undefeated teams from weaker conferences. That's not a slam on those conferences. It's just the way it is and the game should reflect that reality.

dude come on man. think about it. of course they dont have the 8 cpu's and then drop the best and worst and then take a avg. the say that every year they change the formula to what they use in real life. the prob is the two polls. think about it man. in real life its very hard for non bsc to break 8th in the coaches or ap even if undefeated at end of year. its very easy for central mich to be undefeated and be 2 or 3 at seasons end. this is what is messing up the formula. in real life common sense would tell us that they havent played the comp that bcs teams have and no coach would vote them that high. the game doesnt have that logic. thats the flaw in the formula. if central mich or any other team was undefeated and 7th or 8th in the two polls at the end of year like they would be at best in real life then the would not even be close to NC contention at years end. the BCS formula is not the prob its the lack of logic in the two polls that have the control over the BCS. plus since Strength of Schedule has been taken by the NCAA they took it out here so with out any hum logic there is no way for the cpu to get it right. the only way to do it would be to program the non bcs schools to get treated differently in the polls but then you open all new probs when you switch conferences.

your last paragraph is very correct but how would they do it. my thought is the BCS is not the prob. its the two feeder polls. when boise or whoever is ranked 2 or 3rd in the coaches and ap with no loses and florida is one spot behind them with one loss it makes no sense. it would be awesome if we got to vote in the coaches poll or if the cpu had some kind of logic added that a no loss non bcs can never be ranked over a 1 loss bcs in the ap and coaches that could work but could cause more probs. the easiest thing to do is to sim a cpu team that is getting high in the polls a loss.

Re: Fixed BCS Rankings in 2010

Im sure there is a way for them to fix the ranking system they have right now. I disagree with you saying they use the same formula they do in real life, they def. do not! For example i just got done with a dynasty game and Texas A&M jumped from number 24 to 14 in one week and what made them jump so much, defeating Kansas State, lol!
