I always have a dilemma choosing which team to sub into the schedule for an FCS Regional Team.

I am thinking about starting a Dynasty with SMU and they have an FCS West team scheduled for week 2.

What do you do?

I general go with an in-state rival. Like when i'm Ohio State i'll find an Ohio located MAC team. With you already being SMU, i would say go for a lower quality BCS team, like a Baylor, WAZZU (although finding pac-10 teams are hard with some of them in conference play by week 1), or Duke. You could always go with an indy team too like Navy or Western Kentucky (they are indy in football right? I know they are sun belt in basketball).

The will play in the Sun Belt starting this year. They just had to complete their transition period from FCS to FBS before playing in a conference.

As far as the thread's question, I just go with any team I feel like, often a strong mid-major.

it depends on how tough/weak my schedule currently is. I normally would replace them with a regional non-BCS team. for your example though(SMU), I would go with North Texas if your not looking for a challenge in that game, or a Big 12 team, if you are.

I was thinking about A&M... I dunno. SMU is really weak and already plays Texas Tech in week 3.

It really depends on how good my team is and how strong their schedule is. If it is the first yea of a dynasty and I have a weak team I will leave them, If my team is mediocre then i will replace them with a team of about equal talent. if I have a very strong team then I will schedule a top 10 opponent.

I wish North Texas wasn't in the position that we are in.

As the Mean Green, I tried to create a rival with SMU and TCU, but ended up playing one team every other year. When we were invited to C-USA, I thought we would get to play SMU every year, but it switched me WITH SMU.

If I am ever given an FCS team, I usually play either SMU or one of the Sun Belt teams.
