Re: How 09 compares to 10

I'm starting to get the impression that the shots they've been showing us like the Tebow one and the Mustain one, are user controlled replay shots, and the depth of field blur effects only show up when you move closeup like APF had it, and not during closeups live game (because there may be none). Just a feeling I'm getting.

The game from far away looks the same as last year with no change except that there may be progressive lighting.

Gameplay issues and presentation are the biggest issues though. That's what's been needing help.

Yeah, the blur (aka depth of field) increases as you move the camera closer to the target. So if you go into replay and zoom into a guy's head, the background is really blurry... but from normal gameplay camera, you don't really see it.

So perhaps that means no tight-shot auto-replays this year or live closeups...

I was really hoping for full screen auto-replays like those closeup photos to finally happen ... it would've been an adequate replacement for canned cutscenes.

OMT, are you guys using the same engine Madden 09 used? It looks exactly like it?

Depth of field happens in real life guys, that's why so many pictures and stuff of players have blurred backgrounds. I think it is kind of a cool effect as long as they don't pull a 2k. In 2k you can see a white border of pixels around the player, it looks really bad.

I dunno, maybe EA should steal some of 2ks ideas, because 2k makes some quality sports games. Just ask EA how their basketball games compare to 2ks.

Anyways, as for the screens? They look nearly identical to the screens from last year. No major differences from the looks of it. Unfortunately we still aren't getting any of the equipment updates we've been wanting since the series came to next gen consoles.

OMT, when does your NCAA football license expire?
