There is zero reason that this should still be the way EA has it set up after all of these years.

It should simply be...

T
G
OLB
DE

For simplicity's sake, and for the sake of avoiding many glaring headaches in game, this should have been changed years ago.

I'm sick of seeing computer teams with two 92 rated LOLBs and a 55 rated walk-on starting at ROLB. Yes, I know you guys said that now the CPU will stick the higher rated player at the other side, but still....just simplify it. OLB...that's it.

Why is this still set up this way EA guys?

You make many valid arguments, but you state "Yes, I know you guys said that now the CPU will stick the higher rated player at the other side, but still....just simplify it. OLB...that's it."

I'm going to take a look at how well their new system works before making any judgments.

I would LOVE if they did this for recruiting. I don't care if a T recruit is LT or RT. It doesn't matter.

I wish they just did it like this:

QB
RB (could be FB)
WR
TE
OL (T, C, G)
DL (DT or DE)
LB (OLB or MLB)
DB (CB, FS, SS)
ATH

If they did that and kept the roster the same, I'd be happy. It would force you to look at the players' ratings, size, etc. I think it'd really make recruiting interesting.

And I agree that they should change it for rosters as well. Maybe it would help some roster issues.

While they are at it, could they not have rating changes for moving a guy to different positions.

Why should speed change if you move a guy from FS to SS?

And, why not just allow for a human player to adjust depth charts during a dynasty for all teams? 2k always allowed this in their basketball games and you could even edit players. Who cares if some 7 year old wants to change a bunch of things during the year.

Agree.

I understand that rating decreases are needed to prevent WRs at QB, but FS to SS is just crazy.

Also, even if I wanted to screw up everyone else's depth chart, shouldn't I have the ability to? It is my game...

If the CPU does correctly insert the right higher rated players as starters this will be a big win. This has been broken since the series was created. Its possible the CPU may still "need" these Right and Left distinctions for some database reasons.

So its one down, two to go. They also need to fix the "6 QB's but only 3 CB's on the roster" syndrome, and the "We run some variation of the option, but lets recruit these 55 speed QB's" problem. I'm hopeful about the former, but pessimistic about the latter.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

The problem I see is that the "ATH" position is far from functioning. Way too many of those players simply have their highest rating as a QB so the computer places the ATH at QB and thus they end up with 6 QBs because they had 2 recruited and brought in an ATH or 2 which both ended up as QBS.

In real life, LT and RT are two totally different positions. Playing LT and guarding the blindside of your right handed QB, is way harder than playing RT. I don't think they should get rid of those positions, but rather make them hold their own importance.
