Re: Create a play/formation

at ncaastrategies, travis7401 and fisherjr33 floated the idea of making playbook customization an online thing like teambuilder - have some sort of web-based way of editing and sharing formations and plays.

sounds like a fantastic idea, right?
and it sounds relatively easy (to dumb me)

Re: Create a play/formation

Create a play would be nice to have. But would be exploited by cheeser online. Usless They made it for offline use only.

Re: Create a play/formation

If AI is truly adaptive, then running the same play over and over again won't be very helpful for cheesers.

Or, like I suggested, limit it to offline dynasties or online dynasties where every member agrees, or just ban it from online pickup games.

It just seems rather simple to me - EA opens up their toolbox for creating plays to the game-buying audience (perhaps even for a fee!) and gets the public to do all the heavy lifting for them.

We can then import playbooks the same way we would import teams from Teambuilder.

I don't even think this is something we'd have to wait for in 2011 - it just seems so simple.
Granted, I don't know a thing about programming, but, prima facie, it's a simple concept.

I popped in Madden 07 yesterday and messed around with the play creator. There were some major flaws (you could only hand the ball off to someone if they were lined up in an area very close to the QB, often times the QB would just ignore them, flipping plays broke them)

BUT the basic thing - moving little circles around and telling them what to do is something very easy to AGAIN make accessible to the public. Isn't it how EA makes the plays?

Then we could create formations or plays that are ignored in the game

What about the Desert Swarm? I don't know anything about it really, but I'm sure someone does and I'm sure someone would be willing to make it.

Re: Create a play/formation

This would be an amazing feature and I would use it right but I am 100% sure that cheesers would ruin it . so thats why I'm only hoping for formation subs

Re: Create a play/formation

Here's why CAP never worked before and was always a ridiculous feature:

1) Blocking is already messed up in the game, so when you try to design a simple trap play, all that would happen is the guard you wanted to pull would leave a gaping hole and allow the DT to easily make the tackle in the backfield. That meant all of your running plays had to be super simple and never really worked.

2) You could never flip your plays or audible your run play to the opposite side without all of your receivers switching sides of the field.

3) No motion. Lame.

4) No option. Superlame

5) No PA.

And the list goes on.
