I think the real test will be the demo on higher difficulty levels. People get to see things for themselves in their hands.

In that Nebraska vid the DE was human controlled. Thats why he shot up field like that & didnt engage 1st. Game is still way to fast & plays just like 09. Madden on the other hand looks like its made huge strides over last years offering. Good post though.

I respect the level of detail you are looking at and I agree that a simulation engine should have these items addressed as a priority. As it is, we must remember that the game at hand is not a sim engine and the "game" product is NOT being used for simulation purposes. Ultimately, the game is trying to resemble football while providing entertainment for a diverse demographic of consumers. If the product was being purchased and somehow used by an NFL team for simulation and strategy purposes, I think it's fair to say, EA would have lost their contract long ago. Your detail is just scratching the surface of the shortcomings of a real simulation engine. Hardcore gamers like yourself and me included, would love to have a more accurate representation of the nuts and bolts of the game. In the end though, the developers have limited time and resource to create a marketable product. And I'm guessing the goals they have to fulfill are more closely related to marketing beef rather than simulation detail.

Great post. Hopefully someday there is a product that has aspirations of detailed simulation. I think for now, we have to accept that it is only a game and determine if we are being entertained. I know I have been enjoying the hell out of NCAA 09 for what it is and I look fwd to 10 as well. If we ever get to a sim engine product, well, that would be 10x even better. Posters like yourself would be an asset to that team of developers.
