Great observations..

I play 06 5 days a week..Sometimes i let the cpu run my gameplan, sometimes i pick up the sticks... best gameplay in the series
The ratings actually matter in this game! Freshmen get rattled and make mistakes, miss assignments, DB's are just as fast as recievers and actually cover.. QB's get sacked... all things u won't find in 09!

I hope we find em in the 2010 version??

Re: So I Played NCAA 06 Today

Busted out '04 and '06 the past few days....I was surprised that I enjoyed '06 a lot more...I think I played '04 a lot more but '06 seemed more polished...

Definitely have to change some sliders to compensate for the impact players...

Passing was tough..I actually thought the defense was pretty solid for human and CPU...

Great game...too bad it's too slow for the 360...

Still waiting for that break-through 360 football game...

When it's slanted towards the offense, it allows people who have no idea what they're doing to win because they can call crap plays all game and continue to score, so then all they need are one or two lucky stops (fumbles, INTs, etc...) to win.

'06 was the game where impact players would break ridiculous tackles all game, and where the DB AI was just horribly passive. And it was probably EASIER to scramble then, because that was before we even had the QB contain assignments. '06 was very much like '09 in the sense that defense was virtually impossible (in online head to head games).
This pretty much sums it up. I remember breakin many controllers throughout my experience. Deep passes and user catches were automatic. Wasnt '06 also the year of the timeout glitch? Where somehow your opponent would call a timeout before a late kickoff and the game would disconnect?

Re: So I Played NCAA 06 Today

This brings me back to my CAS dynasty on NCAA 06... the longest and most fun dynasty I've ever had.

I wasn't too good back then so I played on default All-American, and had a lot of great games.

I still remember playing at Florida State and coming from down 35-14 in the 4th to win on a 2-point conversion.

I remember coming into the national championship game with a team on a 35 game winning streak, facing off against a two loss Oklahoma squad who got in over a 1 loss team, and then getting absolutely manhandled 45-7, still the most dissapointing moment in my gaming career.

I would get my revenge though. 5 years later I finally returned to the national title game, against undefeated Oklahoma. I came out throwing the ball everywhere with the heisman trophy winner at running back, and they must've been caught off-guard because we rolled out to a 21-0 lead, and never looked back en route to a 48-19 win.

The fact that I remember all of this really shows me how good this game was.

Exactly, I can't recall any memorable games/moments since we went to 360/PS3. There is nothing currently that pulls me into games like the last gen titles were able to do.

Re: So I Played NCAA 06 Today

I've always wanted this game again, but I've never been able to find a ps2 or xbox copy. I rented it because I heard good things about it. I used to have a QB in Race for the Heisman mode (For some reason it's probably one of the most fun game modes I've ever played, but for some reason only in the 06 edition.) I had 3 good seasons, but none heisman caliber at Tennessee, and my senior year had a great year and won the Heisman and went to the National Championship. I made a 21 point comeback to get to make it to OT vs Nebraska. We had 6 overtimes, and they beat me on a HB pass.

It was probably the most fun game I've ever played, even though I lost. I had this game for the shortest time, yet remember the most moments for some reason. It was definitely my favorite game in the series. I didn't feel cheated whenever the CPU beat me, I made adjustments to fix it. Great game.
