1st off Herbie is so general its disgusting "This player had a nice game," no ****.

then my coach wants to see more production out of me while i'm the starting QB and have a 4.0 GPA as well as 3-0 on the season (2 player fo the week honors) recently upsetting Rutgers #25 team in the country, oh and i'm playing for Army

give me a break..."Hey Erin he had a good game on the ground, hope to see more in the future." what a *******

rant over

At least that's just all presentation stuff. I hate the running game when I'm the QB in RTG. It's really irritating to see my RB run sideways along the 1st down marker over and over again, instead of going forward for yards...that happens on almost every play where there isn't the initial hole they are expecting on the play.

It's cool they try to find room somewhere else, but once they find it, they keep running along the 1st down marker instead of heading upfield. I've missed more than a few 1st downs cause of stupid running AI like this.

This is interesting to me.

I've had this problem with this mode since its inception (in both Madden and NCAA) while playing a QB, but I was amazed this year that my tailback would BURST through the hole with efficiency in 10. My tailback is averaging 4.x to 5.x per carry most games and he's an absolute beast.

I'm wondering if that's the difference between a back like Jahvid Best of Cal and others. I was all excited because I finally had a running game and wasn't constantly stuck in 3rd and 9 or 3rd and 12...but reading this reminds me of how different the game can be for different people.

Re: RTG is really weird...

Could be, maybe it has to do with rating...I'll have to try that out. I use Utah, and it's the first string RB.

I love playing WR most of all, but they totally borked it this year from my experience. I played UTAH as a WR, and they would just run it all the time. That's not what this team is supposed to do. They run a spread, so I thought I would be fine as a WR on their team.

Previous years have been great as WR, but this year I can only deal being QB. Too many stupid plays called for the situation, and I was sick of burning time outs just to get the play possibly changed.

Maybe I should see if I can do sliders to fix it. Not sure if you can in RTG. The stupid QB passes the ball 80% of the time, before I've even made the break on my route. This really doesn't help with the bump coverage being way better this year. If I don't get away clean, I have zero chance. The ball is passed before I start my route.

At least I am having fun as an option QB. Never tried QB before this year. Always though I should just play dynasty if I wanted to be QB, but it's turned out to be pretty fun.

Re: RTG is really weird...

I know you guy are playing RTG, it's what the thread is about. However, I was a big campus legend person but I was always disappointed. However, with the player lock option, unless you are just stuck on the Erin Andrews/Herbie presentation, it's much better to just play the dynasty with player lock on your player.
What I did was create a receiver and sign with a team using RTG. Then I copied down my attributes, left RTG, loaded my most recent roster, created myself with the exact same attributes on the same team, started a dynasty with the team I picked, then just used the player lock to only play with myself. I ended up being the two receiver for Clemson. I try to use ask Corso to pick my plays, however, unlike RTG, when an absolutely unrealistic playcall is made, you can just override it and make a call that makes common football sense. When the defense is on the field, I just watch using supersim.
Doing things like this, there is a more natural progression without worrying about classes and practices. (You can still practice whenever you like, when you like.) You get to play with the players having their REAL name. And even more important to me, unlike Campus Legends of the past, when I go to the draft in Madden, I WILL BE DRAFTED WHERE I BELONG IN THE DRAFT BASED ON MY ABILITIES and not have to wait until the beginning of the third round while the CPU puts the first two rounds of rookies on the correct team. (Anybody whose done this knows what I'm talking about)
I've never had more fun. Playing dynasty games and seeing that yellow ring pop up on a streak, knowing the QB just luanched a bomb your way. Can't wait for Madden to drop so I can see what round and what pick I go. 6' 3", 221 lbs. 95 overall at the beginning of my senior year. Won a BCS championship my sophomore year.
Oh yeah, I got some decent sliders for playing as a receiver or tight end this way.
