Defensive player wins the Heisman?

Almost finished with my 4th season and my LDE finished 3rd in the Heisman. He was leading or 2nd place for most the season but tailed off at the end. I couldn't believe a defensive guy would ever get consideration but he was 2nd on the team in tackles, almost half of them TFL with 22 sacks (tied school record), 3 FF, 1 TD, 1 Safety.

Funny thing he's not even the superstar on the line. My RDE is a 99 OVR with great SPD and ACC. My LDE was a 88 OVR (+1 gain over the season) who is dumpy looking and not particularly fast, or at breaking blocks, or great power or finesse moves. For whatever reason the LDE always seems to dominate the stats in these games.

Anyone have a defensive player when the Heisman or make top 5?

Not from my team, but I believe in year 2 of my dynasty some random CB was like 3rd or 4th. He had like an NCAA record number of INTS.

I always do this with a defensive player, especially a DB. It's so easy to get a pick 6!

I won it w/ Major Wright, the S from Florida, in NCAA 09. Had like 14 picks and 6 TDS as well as about 100 tackles and 20 TFL

It's not unheard of. Charles Woodson won the Heisman back in 1997 (though he did also play a bit of offense).

His interception of Todd Schulz remains the most impressive play I've ever seen.
