I disagree, what do the reviewers say about MLB The Show?

Build it and they will come...............

When I say gimmick I mean things that dont effect the play on the field. While I agree this game could use presentation (atmosphere definitely), The gameplay needs to be improved above anything and unfortunately the reviewers dont notice subtle gameplay refinements. The NCAA team feels they have to innovate and create new concepts to get great reviews. Sure teambuilder is a great idea, but personally I dont use it. I spend 99% of the time playing play now and online games. When push comes to shove I want the gameplay features. Look at Madden they added some new presentation. Its cool the first couple times but guess what? I skip through it now. O and NCAA needs to add the quick juke.

People keep saying we'd get 2006/2007 if we got a new engine, but I'll retort and say that nothing can truly be fixed until the game is based on a physics engine.

Football is a game of mass, momentum and force ... you can't display that with animations and silly little ratings (that aren't used anyhow).

Sure, you can fix the small stuff, but the most basic aspect of the game is the most flawed aspect. OL/DL. The blockers have no scheme or assignments of any relevance, size doesn't matter, it's all effed up. All football starts in the trenches and when that part is broken to the point of silliness, no amount of bug squashing is going to fix it.

Give me an new engine.

I think staring from scratch would create even more problems/bugs. They need to spend less time giving us all these "mini-games" within the game and refine the football end of it. What the devs seem to fail to realize is good ratings and replay value don't come from overloading the user with options. The core of any football game, from Nintendo to table top games to PS3, is the football game itself and the users ability to accurately play a season/dynasty. If EA would quit worring about the bells and whistles and produce a SOLID college football game, the ratings and replay value would go through the roof.
