Re: Suction-cup blocks

I've seen a couple of folks mention that this phenomenon will be eliminated in NCAA2004. This is good.
However, as much as I hate it in 2003, if it's going to be eliminated then they would have to add something else to take its place. You have to have some way of allowing a blocker to engage a defender beyond the line-of-scrimmage. In 2003 if there was no suction blocking then downfield blocking would be non-existent and you'd have linebackers and DBs making tackles all over the place. They need to add the "push block". For example, if a lineman targets the MLB, then instead of "sucking him in" (I know, I know) which defies the laws of physics, the game should allow the blocker to "push" the target. Thus, if the MLB was running towards the ball carrier, instead of giving him a sudden change in direction due to suction, the blocker should be able to "push" him which could 1) cause him to fall down, or 2) change his momentum in such a way that he maintains balance but is unable to make the tackle.
This would be much less frustrating and much more realistic. Nothing aggrevates me more than being the MLB and running full speed parallel to the line-of-scrimmage towards the ball carrier and then being forced to engage motionless with a fat slob for 5 seconds. I'd rather be pushed down to the ground or at least pushed off course.
If this isn't in 2004 then let this be the first official request for 2005.
The game spot videos show the new push block you are talking about in the open field and during the pass rush.
