Re: Post Patch Progression Simulation

Lol, uh oh, maybe I did jump the gun with my excitement. Like stew pointed out the stats definitely take a hit. However, being that people like me made this monster I have no problem living with it. I do wanna thank EA for listening and taking the time to make the change.

Re: Post Patch Progression Simulation

I just don't know what to think right now. I'm very pleased EA listened to the fans but to the same extent this years game is now so far out of my sights... I haven't played since late August. Does this patch increase the enjoyment of the game or does it simply change the stats and PLAY identical to what we had after the second patch?

I'm on 360 and know how to remove the updates but I'm not sure how to get updates 1 and 2 w/o getting 3 if you already downloaded it. This sucks...I don't know why these companies can't make checklists to go through before release....

1) Do players progress properly
2) Are sim stats looking ok
3) Do sliders work as intended
4) Does the polling system work properly

AND on and on and on....really doesn't seem that difficult. They are either understaffed or not interested in checking this stuff thoroughly. I can't believe that we are nearing 2010 and the 10th (or more) iteration of most of these games and continue to fight the same issues every single year.

Re: Post Patch Progression Simulation

Ok, I don't know if anyone has mentioned this but one of the biggest problems is that there are much more players leaving early and it is very difficult to get them to come back.

For example my first year with Penn State, I had 5 players that decided to leave early and even after talking with them for 30+ minutes, they all decided to go pro. The following year, 4 more players (rated 91, 92, 94, 94) decided to go pro and none of them were persuaded to come back. The third year yielded similar results.

This sounds great and all but the issue is that it would've been perfect before the progression patch. Now it seems that they will be a major shortage of very highly rated players. I may be jumping the gun on this being that I have only simulated three years.

Stew, did you notice anything like this when you did your tests?

Re: Post Patch Progression Simulation

Ok, I'm really confused now. I know I downloaded the patch but after this third season I spoke about in my previous post, I have 6 players that progressed six points, 4 players that progressed seven points and 3 that progressed nine points (two offensive lineman and a defensive tackle).

You know what.... I don't get it. I give up. I'm just gonna try to enjoy the game for what its worth.

Heck I hope somebody does that!

I did as Stew, and simmed... here's my results... Pretty much the same thing. I'm going to also post the real life counter part from the randomly chosen 2005 season. Just to compare.

Sim Results/IRL

QB Rating
167/180
160/178
156/173
155/172
150/167

Passing Yards avg per att avg per comp
3807/4301 7.5/8.4 11.8/12.3
3730/4238 6.7/8.0 12.8/12.0
3690/3919 8.7/8.7 13.5/13.4
3678/3815 7.2/8.9 13.3/13.4
3671/3709 7.8/7.2 11.7/11.2

Passing Touchdowns
37/35
33/34
31/32
30/31
28/30

Interceptions
33/19
30/19
26/18
26/18
25/18

Completion %
70/70
65/69
65/68
64/68
64/67

Top 5 Running Backs
428 carries | 1,490 yards | 3.4 avg | 14 TD | Long of 53
396 carries | 1,454 yards | 3.6 avg | 9 TD | Long of 42
309 carries | 1,364 yards | 4.4 avg | 12 TD | Long of 80
343 carries | 1,320 yards | 3.8 avg | 6 TD | Long of 12
309 carrier | 1,303 yards | 4.2 avg | 7 TD | Long of 17

real life top 5 from 2005
309 1959 6.3 18
308 1900 6.2 16
200 1740 8.7 16
348 1636 4.7 22
243 1588 6.5 16

There were 2 players with 90+ yard TD.
but, 16 with 80...

20+ run
#1 - 4
#2 - 4
#3 - 3

Tackles top 5 sim/irl
133/179
124/158
120/150
120/149
119/140

sacks look good... so nothing there.
INTS, look fine too, at least the top 10; too many have 5 or more though.

Kick return yards
987/836
940/767
923/741
917/736
902/705

hmmm the actual attempts was SLIGHTLY higher, and the avg yards per attempt was like 2 yards per higher than the real life counter part. so, not that bad I guess.

So... running backs are for sure off... mainly has to do with their avg carry it appears. Also, the Qb's average per attempt is kinda off too, but the per completion is cool... Interceptions are bad.

Are they going to do another patch, this seems like something that could be fixed, somehow....

Looks good to me. Stats aren't that far off you can't expect them to completely mirror real life. I'm just happy that the number of elite players is down. Having 20 Percy harvins and 10-15 Sam bradfords per year was getting old.

Re: Post Patch Progression Simulation

So in what year does this start screwing up the sim stats? I usually only play 4-5 years of dynasty so will this affect me?
