Dude, most magazines review unfinished product. As do many of the bigger websites.

Hell, GI gave Star Wars galaxies a 9.5 in last month's edition. For a game that still hasn't even shipped.

Well I'm sending a letter to my congressman to get a bill started to make it against the law to review beta copies of games.

well, i guess its not too soon anymore, since the game has gone gold.

I wonder what beta they reviewed though?? esp since they write the articles early to mid-month, and since the game went gold today, it couldnt be the final beta.

The last few weeks of development are devoted to polishing and fixing minor bugs. It's entirely possible these publications get a 'near' finished copy of the game that will be completely indicative of the final product. After a certain point in development, you don't tweak gameplay that much because the consequences of doing so can be huge.

Even if they got a build that was 2-3 versions from final, the changes made in the last few versions are so minor that most consumers wouldn't notice.
