Is ncaa 09 worth buying? how much of an improvement is it over 08?

i dont have enough money to buy ncaa 10

It does have a fair amount of issues and honestly, this has been debated quite a few times the last month. But it can be a fun game and I like it more than '10. I lent my copy out to a co-worker and he loved it (first next gen football game - he just got a PS3) and he went out and bought it. You can get it for as little as $10 which is a good deal. It's also quite a bit different than '08 and a nice improvement from that.

The cpu doesn't manage it's roster well during dynasty mode. After 5 years the rosters get goofy. The sliders don't work very well making it hard to fine-tune. The cpu won't throw deep and the QB AI is still questionable at times. It's better on Heisman but on that level "robo QB" tends to be there - they complete a very high number of passes and are hard to sack. On the default levels the pass blocking is ridiculously high. Pursuit angles can be bad but I personally think that issue is over-rated. There is a missed tackle animation that is a bigger problem (the greased pig) but NCAA 10 has its own version of that as well imo.

Anyways, it's a more offensive game that is fun to play if you accept some issues. The lack of defense is a greater issue online but offline is still fun. I greatly prefer the camera angle in 09 to 10. And the game is more polished in terms of crowd noise, look, menu lag and passing speeds imo.

Are these problems on the PS2 version? I just ordered 09 for PS2 because I've been reading the last gen versions don't have as many gameplay problems.

Two different animals. My comments are solely about the PS3 version which is quite different.
