The stuff that Pitt Stadium had was nasty. It was old, flattened out AstroTurf. I can only imagine what it would have been like to get tackled on the stuff.

My HS had it installed a couple years ago, and I played a few games on it. I agree, its like a really bouncy grass. It was a little weird, but its definately better than the turf we had before it. Doesn't hurt as much.

They have Astroplay, I guess it's now the crappy version of fieldturf...

Rice University had turf like in Pitt's old stadium, it was so worn down it was like the concrete was painted green.

Astroplay is a very good surface as well as Field Turf. The Buffalo Bills are installing the Astroplay turf in their stadium for this upcoming season.

Kansas has some sort of mix but I have no clue what it is. I think it may still be classified as "grass" but I don't know.

The old turf was cut into strips to make way for the installation of AstroPlay in the coming weeks. The old turf will be rolled for removal beginning Sunday morning to make way for the installation of the AstroPlay surface that closely resembles natural grass.
