I've been called for roughing the passer on a running play because I touched him when he started blocking...kinda similar

yea that has happened to me a few times. my punter got called for holding on a muff punt recovery.

I've had that happen a couple times as well. Don't think I've ever seen my QB called for holding though. Some of the penalty calls in this game are ridiculous though. My favorite is when the CPU QB throws a pass then starts walking forward into one of my linemen who is just standing there since the play is downfield then falls down and my lineman gets called for roughing the passer. (Note, PS2 version)

Those are some pretty funny calls. None have happened to me, but fun to read.
