i sent it to my girlfriend - she read it and loved it. She knows this game brings me more joy than anything, so she is cool with it.

My gf is so glad I'm getting the game. She's living in Australia for the next few months. She figures I can't get into any trouble if I'm at home naming players and recruiting.

Nice to see a fellow 36-year-old guy postponing his maturity...

Seriously, though, it was a great article that captured the essence of why we love these games so much...

What a great article! I haven't seen a columnist really go out and talk about a sports video game. Great read, and certainly a well written article. Good job Whitlock!

Why can't our girlfriends/wives understand this!! Wouldn't this be a perfect world if women felt the same way about video games like us guys do?

I can see myself sitting in an old age home when I'm like 90 years old still playing video games. When I get mad I'll pull out my false teeth and throw them across the room.

Yeah that Madden ad is funny and true!

My girlfriend walked in the room as soon as I finished reading this article. I tried to tell her that this passion was exactly what I was talking about, but I couldn't even get her to read it. She just stood here shaking her head the whole time and saying, "oh god!" She usually laughs it off, but occasionally I get the death stare! I still get to play some though. My buddies and I try to set up all-day tourney's every couple of monthes....that way the chicks can all go do something with each other!!!

Chicks get serious about it man! I seriously don't understand why? I don't know if it is the competitiveness or what? Some people like to read for enjoyment. I like to play sports games? No crime?!? I imagine it is because they are getting no attention?

Your thoughts, advice, stories, etc...appreciated!
