The reason why people are upset now, is because we did infact have better presentation in the past (see the entire 2K Football series, the 2K Basketball series, some past Madden's like 98, some EA NCAA games). There was indeed a time when they (and other companies) promised and delivered. Things have changed. First we got the ill-conceived "beyond broadcast" concept, and now they tell us something is authentic when it's not. Where does it end? And the bigger question is, why are they doing so much dancing around something they know they can do? What's the point, and who does it benefit? It doesn't benefit them because you get a situation like the one right now. It obviously doesn't benefit the gamer either, for the exact same reason. This is one of the oddest things I've ever seen in gaming. It's a situation that defies logic.

We don't see the team that makes MLB The Show doing that. They promise it, and they deliver it, and you know what the result is? A game that's gone down in history as one of the best ever, not because it's the best-playing game, but because it plays well enough AND does all the little things right. Tiburon not doing the same with their football games is basically like self-sabotage. It's almost like they're afraid to be excellent.

I often hear "it's a video game, it's not supposed to look like TV!" That's a cop out. What it's "supposed to look like" depends on the the result of a conceptual design decision, it being a video game is irrelevant. The difference between games that got it right like NBA 2K, MLB The Show, NFL 2K5, and games ridden with presentation mistakes like every NCAA and Madden this generation, is that those other games have stronger conceptual design and those teams understood that if they nailed just that they'd cement a place in history... and they did it. Maybe Tiburon just isn't concerned with historical status like the other companies making sports titles are, but if that's the case then that's an even bigger problem than the issue we're debating now.
Very valid argument. But do you remember the days before The Show, 2K5 and NBA 2K? And even before Madden 98 on the PS, those were the days where we just wanted to pick up and play and have fun.

We all love Madden and we all love NCAA. I see the point you're trying to make though and that's games like NFL 2K5, NBA 2k-2K10, MLB The Show ETC. have all shown us what you can do with stellar presentation.

It all seems like EA promises us "authentic real broadcast" presentation every year just to get us to buy the game. For some reason that none of us know they just refuse to implement it correctly. NCAA Football seems to be making strides and we haven't really seen anything for Madden yet but we can only hope they are FINALLY listening to the masses and putting REAL presentation in.

The point i'm trying to make is we're spoiled because of other games and we only want the best for our favorite football games. Each argument is disputable, but it's fair to say we're a bit greedy nowadays which is why some of us are angry when they don't deliver, others go absolutely insane about it and others, such as myself, deal with what we have and hope better for the next year because growing up and playing what we had was nothing compared to what we have now.

Re: Authenticity

I don't think the attitude to pick up and play to have fun has changed for most of us, but the expectations definitely have because we have seen how things can be, why would we want to go back? Especially when the tech has advanced and EA is the only 1 making these football games. I'm tired of depending on EA to get things right, I just don't think they care or have the talent or vision anymore.

Exactly what I said in my previous post. For reasons unknown they just don't care or just refuse to accept that someone else's product was/is better so they refuse to "copy"

Maybe i'm so used to being disappointed every year iv'e lost all hope that they will actually change so it's more of an okay whatever attitude now.

I think that's what's happened for most people. They've simply given up and have taken things for what they are, nothing wrong with that, but some guys on this bored have a problem when others don't share that complacent mind set with them and EA. I think we all deserve better. I for one am going to show some restraint and purchase their games used this year.

Appreciate it my man, means alot. Yea that's how I've been in year's past. If the demo just gives me the feeling I can't live without this game, then I'll have no choice, lol. In reality if the game is fun all the missing details become minor until next year, but as of now we just want EA to get the minor things right. Gameplay will never be perfect, but some of the things we want only take 1 time to get right.

Re: Authenticity

I find that the overall upgrades and new additions here and there will definitely make this NCAA the best by far, regardless if it is "perfect".

However, a few things:

Big Issues:

Not EVERY game is broadcasted on ESPN (what about ABC, CBS, NBC, hell even EPSN2 and ESPN U ..... they each have there own individual displays at the bottom)

Where are the scrolling team lineup introductions or at least impact players?

National Signing Day/ Heisman Show/ Game Day

Small Issues:

Pregame Intros of star players and their stats need definite improvement

Dreads yes, but then again every long haired player doesn't have dreads (AJ Hawk, Brian Cushing, those crazy Hawaiians) what about all long hair styles? not JUST dreads

No Mouthpieces

Where's the chain-gang?

Immovable pylons

Water cooler celebrations

Coach close ups
