The forgotten game aspect: special teams thread

hopefully sometime in the near future EA gives more attention to special teams play. in all my years of paying ncaa/madden i MAY have blocked a kick or punt but it's been too long to remember. because close games are often times won or loss based on blocked/partially blocked kicks or punts, ea should really look into this.

i would like to see one or two plays added on kick returns , maybe a reverse & something unique with blocking assignments

Agree 100%. I've probably blocked less than 10 punts/kicks in the 15 years I've been playing EA football games. I think its WAY past the time to see a few long snaps over the punters head or bobbled holds by the holder... just to name two of the possible dozens of things that could be added to pump some life into special teams.

Definitely agree. In my four years of playing next gen NCAA, i have not blocked any punts or fgs, and the CPU has blocked ONE extra point of mine. That's it. All the focus of special teams seem to be on the kicker, but there are so many other aspects to special teams play.

Re: The forgotten game aspect: special teams

i dunno why they took out the ability to shift the line on the current gen ncaa's. that (and bad snaps) led to blocked punts- i blocked 4-6 a season on ncaa 04. also, it's b.s. that the punt team reacts to the pr team's set. it's the other way around in real life- the pr team decides rather or not to cover gunners, and some teams automatically throw it out to the gunner if he is uncovered.

Special teams are a trivial afterthought to EA, always have been and always will be..
