Lets Hear From The 1st Timers

Anyone else here jumping to the NCAA train this year for the 1st time?

Madden's foibles have led me to my 1st NCAA purchase.

I dont even follow the college game. But the demo was like chocolate, so i jumped.

For those who have jumped as well, how are you transitioning to the college game?

Biggest hurdles?

Enjoying it more? Dynasty over franchise?

Re: Lets Hear From The 1st Timers

Yes sir. This is the 1st time I have bought NCAA football. I dl'd the demo and I must say I was totally impressed. I found it to be very fun and exciting, it embodies the true college football experience.

I have always watched college football pretty much all my life but never really got into the game. I played a few times but it never really caught fire with me. I was always playing Madden or 2k. I have been playing backbreaker as well and really loved that game. However, I am astonished by the quality of NCAA. I was about to swear off EA football games, but this game has changed my attitude totally. Well done EA

This game is awesome and highly immersive. I can't wait to build my Wolverines into a powerhouse.

Re: Lets Hear From The 1st Timers

I'm here.

Never, ever bought an NCAA football game before. Always liked watching, but for whatever reason, just never played. It was all Madden, all the time....

After reading up on the changes, I d/l'd the demo, and was really impressed. Passing on Madden to get this, as I can't afford both; and besides, Madden's franchise is practically untouched.

The college game just seems better---the atmosphere, traditions, bands, etc. And this game seems to replicate this well.

This will all be new to me vs. the NFL------recruiting instead of drafting, not trading away players for big names, and not having to worry about $$$ to spend.

The fact that the game doesn't use player's names doesn't bother me. I kinda know who's who on my fave team (Buckeyes, FTW!!!!)

I cannot wait til later today when I score my copy. All the impressions so far have been positive.

Man, I feel old. Haven't missed an NCAA (or Bill Walsh) since '93.

Just wait until tomorrow or Thursday to start your dynasty. That's when the named rosters will be available here for download.

Re: Lets Hear From The 1st Timers

First time NCAA buyer here as well. Not enough free hours on the weekends to follow both Pro and College games, so a few years back I decided to follow the College game through SportsCenter (and watch a game here and there) and that carried over to my gaming. I'm a total NFL nut, so I usually only purchase Madden. And quite honestly, I never gave much thought to purchasing the NCAA games.

This year the hype got me curious and I downloaded the demo... obviously I thought it was great. Just got back from Best Buy with my new copy of NCAA '11 and I'm sitting at work counting down the hours until I can play it.

Madden has been a huge letdown in recent years, but I have to say I did enjoy Madden '10 to an extent (franchise stats really ruined it). But the thing is, I won't compromise my Madden purchase because of my NCAA purchase. What I'm looking forward to doing is merging the two games into one "super game". I'm solely an offline franchiser. I've always enjoyed the drafting aspect of the NFL and one of the things that was lacking in Madden was the absence of familiarity with CPU generated draft classes. So I'm looking forward to using the NCAA draft classes this year and hopefully, the ratings are fixed - as that appears to have been an issue in the past.

Even if I have to do a lot of simming to get through seasons quicker, it'll be fun to have an NCAA season, then climb into my NFL season with new draft classes and keep alternating until it gets stale. Let's just hope that the staleness doesn't set in before October once again....

I have bought every NCAA since the original Walsh. I went to Ole Miss and we used to have to drive to Memphis to buy games on the release date, those were great times.
