Tipped balls uncatchable?

So after 3 weeks of NCAA, seeing probably around 70 tipped balls, maybe more during that time, I can honestly say that out of all of those I have never had a single one caught by one of my receivers. I have had 2 picked off.

Actually though, 95% of those tipped balls fall right into a player's hands. But for whatever reason the ball becomes a hot potato. Bounces off their hands, bounces off another player's hands, bounces of that player's hands again, then to the ground. I've had a couple times where the player went through three different catching animations tot try and get the tipped ball and dropped all three.

Regardless of how wide open the player is and despite how the ball is coming to them at at a quarter mile an hour, they still cant get their hands on it.

Its a shame because plays off tipped balls often make the highlight reel. Because, you know, players actually catch them.

Anyone else notice this?

I have had probably over 5 caught by the WRs, then the defense has picked off probably he same number. Seems kind of okay to me, but I just think DBs tip/swat the ball too much. Usually a swatted ball is a great play, but in Madden thats how the majority of incomplete passes occur.

Re: Tipped balls uncatchable?

I won 2 games on balls tipped from the CB to my WR, who then went the distance.

I wonder if the player who tips it cannot catch it after ... ?

I can't catch them manually but my CPU controlled WRs do it all the time.

Off the top of my head, I know of 2 TD's I have had off tip passes (one in the endzone, another was a tip by a safety that was caught and run in for the endzone by my receiver). Both times I made a User Catch, so that probably helped me catch those tips.

For manually catching tipped passes, it seems like L1 works a lot better than triangle, but that may just be me. I caught a tip in my RTG yesterday for a touchdown. Pass was wayyyyy over thrown, the DB (in typical EA fashion), just clanked it and I ran and caught the deflection at the goal line.
